The morning before midnight
My mind was real blurry
Focused on a person
Who took me to dance
The sun baked the window
Inviting me to wake
starting up the engine
I stood up to fight
Now I stood up tall
walking along the carpet
bare foot, shirtless
descending the stairs
I rounded the corner and was amazed at what I found
Here was nothing but a mannequin
she looked fine
So I asked her to dance
The morning after midnight
Before the rays hit
the night was dark and warm
and the vibe was as sweet as you
Windy, rainy, cloudy
all helped to make it calm
When we sit and stare
at the cogs and cobwebs
creating can be as easy
as joining bricks with mortar
People are so friendly
mixed in a world of cement
so they stick together
and want to get hard
so ill walk over you
with muddy boots
dropping cigar ash
and singing a tune
worthless evening over
nothing in my hand
wish it was yours
would i still be sad?
